If your son was born at home or at the birth house
Two things come up often enough with Lansing families to be worth raising before you call.
Vitamin K. Babies born in hospital are routinely offered a vitamin K injection, which supports clotting in the first weeks. Families birthing at home sometimes decline it or choose an oral protocol. That is directly relevant to any procedure involving bleeding, and we will discuss it honestly rather than dismissing it or refusing outright.
A newborn examination. Your son should have had one before a circumcision. Findings such as hypospadias are a reason not to proceed, because the foreskin may be needed for a later repair.
$980 professional fee, plus travel expenses

Our baby was born at Village Birth House. Can you still do the circumcision?
Yes. A birth house or home birth changes nothing about the circumcision itself — it simply means a hospital will not do it, since they did not deliver him. We come to your home once your son is healthy and feeding well.
Can you perform a bris in Lansing?
Yes. Rabbi Fischer performs traditional brisim with blessings and a baby naming, as well as simple medical circumcisions with no religious element, for families of all backgrounds across Greater Lansing.
