Cincinnati has a notably deep home-birth midwifery community for an Ohio metro — several established practices attending births across the region, alongside the Cincinnati Birth Center. Families here often plan an out-of-hospital birth deliberately and with good local support.
What that support does not include is circumcision. It falls outside midwifery scope of practice, so your midwife will not perform one, and a hospital will generally decline because your son was never admitted there. It is not that the option has gone; it is that it needs a different route and nobody hands you a map.
Cincinnati is a planned trip for us, at the southern end of our range, so early notice makes a real difference to which dates we can offer — most of all for an eighth-day bris. Travel is quoted upfront.
