Both are fine hospitals with Level III NICUs. Neither is where you want to spend an afternoon a week later with a newborn and a car seat. That is where we come in — we travel to your home instead.
We visit families all over the city, from Frontier and the West Bayfront to Glenwood, Little Italy, Lakeside and the East Side, and out through Millcreek Township, Harborcreek, Lawrence Park, Wesleyville, Fairview, Girard, North East, Edinboro, Waterford and McKean. Can you perform a bris in Erie?
Yes. Rabbi Tzvi Fischer is a certified, seventh-generation mohel and performs a traditional bris with the blessings and a baby naming for Jewish families in the Erie area. He also performs a simple, gentle medical circumcision without any religious ceremony for families of every background. Whichever you choose, the care and the technique are the same.
How soon after birth can the circumcision be done?
Most in-home circumcisions happen in the first one to four weeks after birth, once your baby is feeding well and gaining weight. For a traditional bris the timing is the eighth day. We confirm the right day for your baby at the free consultation, taking into account the birth, your pediatrician’s guidance and how your baby is doing.
