Ohio has strikingly few freestanding birth centers for a state its size. The Mahoning Valley Birth Center near Youngstown is the state's only licensed, accredited freestanding birth center — which means families across much of Ohio who want an out-of-hospital birth rely on home-birth midwives instead.
Those families run into the same wall afterwards: a hospital that did not deliver your baby will usually not circumcise him, and the practices that will can mean a wait and a drive. We come to you, which removes the problem entirely.

Our baby was born at a birth center or at home. Can you still do the circumcision?
Yes. It is one of the most common reasons Ohio families reach out, precisely because the state has so few freestanding birth centers and so many families birthing at home. Your midwife's care and ours work together; we come once your baby is healthy and feeding well.
Can you perform a bris in Ohio?
Yes. Rabbi Fischer performs traditional brisim with blessings and a baby naming, as well as simple medical circumcisions, for families of all backgrounds. More on a bris in Ohio.
How soon after birth can the circumcision be done?
Often within the first one to four weeks, once your baby is healthy and feeding well. A bris takes place on the eighth day. We'll confirm the right timing during your free consultation.
